Privacy

Without any cookie, and without storing anything on your device, we record:

• the pages you look at, the searches you type, the listings you open and the shops you click through to;
• where your visit came from — the website that linked you here (for example a search engine or a forum) and any campaign tag in the link;
• your browser, device type and screen size;
• your IP address, which our analytics provider uses to work out your approximate location (country and city).

These events are tied to a random number that lives only in the open page. Close the tab and it is gone, so two visits cannot be linked. We also keep simple counts (pages per day, which sites send visitors) in our own database; those contain nothing about you personally.

Our analytics provider stores a random id in a cookie and in your browser's local storage (their names start with ph_), so it can tell that several visits are the same person. It also records how you move around the site — clicks, scrolling, the pages you see — so we can spot what is confusing. Everything you type into a form is hidden from those recordings.

We keep your username, email address and plan, plus what you save — your watchlist, wishlist and saved searches. When you are signed in, your analytics events are linked to your username and email so we can see how members use the site and help you if something goes wrong. We never try to identify visitors who are not signed in.

Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details.

To learn where visitors come from and what helps them find gear, to fix what is broken, and to run your account. The cookie-free counting is in our legitimate interest in running a useful site; analytics cookies and recordings rely on your consent; your account data is needed to provide the account.

Analytics run on PostHog's EU cloud, so the data stays in the European Union. Our own server is hosted by Hetzner in the EU. Stripe processes payments. Nobody else receives it, and we never sell or share it for advertising.

• Analytics events: up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Session recordings (only with your yes): up to 30 days.
• The analytics cookie: up to 12 months after your last visit.
• Your account: until you ask us to delete it.
• The cookie-free counts: kept, as they say nothing about any one person.

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — your account, and your analytics history with it. Email privacy@usedgearhunter.com from the address on your account and we will do it within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
