From the seller

Austrian Dynamic Microphone The Eumig 908.103 is a compact dynamic microphone made in Austria during the 1970s. Eumig is best remembered for its film cameras and projectors, and the 908.103 was originally supplied as the recording microphone for Eumig sound-film projectors including the Mark S 807 D and Mark S 810 D. Rather than being conceived as a conventional studio microphone, it was part of a high-quality consumer home-cinema recording system. What makes this little microphone interesting today is its sound. Despite its modest origins and very compact construction, it performs surprisingly well as a recording microphone, with a clear, open character and an unusually extended response for this type of small vintage dynamic. This example has been converted to a modern XLR output, making it ready for use with contemporary microphone preamps and audio interfaces. OPTICAL CONDITION Used vintage condition. The microphone shows normal signs of age and previous use. Please refer to the photographs for the exact cosmetic condition. TECHNICAL CONDITION Tested and fully functional. The dynamic capsule is working correctly and produces a clean, healthy output. The microphone has been converted from its original connection to a standard 3-pin XLR connector for convenient use with modern recording equipment. INCLUDING Protective storage bag BUILD & DESIGN The 908.103/3 is a small and straightforward dynamic microphone, designed during an era when Eumig was one of Austria's major manufacturers of home-cinema equipment. Original Eumig documentation identifies the 908.103/3 as the microphone supplied with the company's Mark S 807 D and Mark S 810 D sound projectors. These machines allowed users not only to reproduce magnetic film soundtracks but also to record and mix sound, making this microphone part of a complete 1970s home-film audio system. Its simple construction also makes it appealing today: a compact vintage dynamic microphone with no electronics, batteries or phantom power required. SOUND This is where the 908.103 becomes much more interesting than its original consumer application might suggest. The microphone has a surprisingly open and extended sound for such a small vintage dynamic. Rather than the heavily restricted, mid-focused response often associated with inexpensive home-recording microphones of the period, it retains considerable upper-frequency information and produces a clear, immediate presentation. It has its own unmistakably vintage dynamic character, but without sounding excessively dark or closed. A genuinely interesting little Austrian microphone that began life recording home movies but can now be plugged directly into a modern studio.
