From the seller
For Sale! Perfect Working Condition, one pair ATC SCM20ASL Pro loudspeakers.
Comes with stands (@90cm height; triangular construction, 3 spikes on base), XLR cables, paperwork, cargo boxes, and fabric dustcovers (bespoke made).
These were purchased new by me in January 2016 from The Chairworks, Castleford, West Yorkshire. They are in excellent condition minus one thing a cosmetic blemish to the black lacquer on the bottom corners of each speaker. This was from Anechoic rubber feet which I originally used to absorb sound from the base speaker. Over time these became compressed and so I replaced them with IsoAcoustics (ISO-PUCK Series) feet. They are in excellent condition and have only seen limited use over the years and have not been worked hard for long periods of time.
OVERVIEW: Compact very high performance 2-way studio monitor ideally suited to:
– critical near-field listening applications in all control rooms
– LCR surround monitoring in small-to-medium control rooms
– surround channels in medium-to-large control rooms
BUILD: There are two MOSFET Class A/B amplifier packs in each cabinet: a 200W module to drive the mid/bass and another 50W circuit for the in-house tweeter. A 25mm soft-dome tweeter. The mid/bass is the same well-proven, robust 150mm unit, using a cone made of doped polyester weave onto which a 75mm dome is grafted improving the unit’s performance at the integration point.
On the back panel there’s the mains input and a single input balanced XLR. A bass-adjustment control (working from 80Hz downwards) that alters the quantity of low frequencies in 1dB steps. The range of adjustment is -2dB to +3dB. Preamp matching is helped by switchable sensitivity and an extra trim adjustment, which means these speakers will be happy to work with a range of partners.
SOUND: Just make sure you like the sound of whatever you connect, because these are ruthlessly honest. When you listen to a great recording, everything comes to life. Sound engineers can use them all day without getting listening fatigue.
PLAYS: The speakers’ stereo imaging is good, being precise, focused and stable, even when the music becomes busy. Playing the music loud, they remain clear and refined to very high levels, showing little sign of strain even when pushed hard. Their neutral tonality barely strays, even as we approach their limits. They stand 45cm tall, and remain seriously impressive at the low-end, delivering bass with weight and power.
CURRENTLY PAIRED WITH: Oppo BDP-105EU DARBEE Edition Universal Blu-ray player. The unit is in a home-stereo configuration. ESS Sabre 32-bit DACs for audiophile-quality sound. My music is stored on external USB drives (mainly 24-96; 24-192; DSD 64s). The Pure Audio setting allows usage as a stand-alone CD/SACD player (with TV) and it will outperform some of the best standalone CD & SACDs on the market. The player is also for sale (please ask me for the details).
Selling only because I no longer need such a high-end Loudspeakers.
