From the seller

UREI Universal Audio 1176LN Rev F (Vintage) Pair Fair cosmetic condition, with obvious signs of use commensurate with age. Includes XLR tails. Serviced, calibrated and in perfect working order with 3 months warranty. S/N:4679/3949F The UREI 1176 Revision F, introduced around March 1973, is a prominent “Blackface” version of the iconic FET compressor-limiter. It is known for being slightly cleaner and having a higher output than its predecessors (Rev C-E) due to a shift to a push-pull (Class AB) output amplifier, while still retaining the classic, fast-acting 1176 character. Key Characteristics and Features: Circuitry Changes: The major change in Rev F was moving from a Class A to a push-pull Class AB output amplifier, resulting in lower total harmonic distortion (THD) and higher output drive capability. “LN” Circuitry: It includes the “Low Noise” (LN) circuit (originally introduced in Rev C) that significantly reduced noise by 6 dB, particularly in the midrange. Op-Amp Metering: The metering circuit was updated to use an op-amp. Signature Sound: While technically cleaner, it still provides the aggressive, punchy sound the 1176 is famous for, making it excellent for vocals, bass, and drums. Controls: It features the standard 1176 layout: Input, Output, Attack, Release, and Ratio buttons (4:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1). Program Dependency: The release time is program-dependent, allowing for faster recovery after transients. All-Button Mode: Capable of the “British Mode” (all-buttons-in), which creates extreme, overdriven, and crushed sounds. Common Uses: The Rev F is highly regarded for its ability to add “bite” and “shine” to signals, particularly on electric guitars and vocals. It was produced through the mid-70s before being replaced by the G and H revisions, which shifted towards using integrated circuit chips.
