Offering a vintage 1950's Shure 737A Monoplex Crystal Microphone, working with desk stand & cable. This distinctly-styled microphone features a striking rectangular, grille-front design—hence the collector nickname “waffle mic.” It was introduced in 1947 with surviving examples are often described as 1950s models, and was made for voice applications such as public address and recording.
The 737A uses a piezoelectric crystal element, noted that they produce a relatively strong signal without a battery or phantom power, and their audio profile favors the midrange with some bass roll-off. This one still has the original crystal element intact, responding well as you can hear in the voice sample on the listing video. This sale includes both the short adapter cable with a male XLR plug, as well as the matching-color Astatic desk stand with chromed riser tube. Total height is 15".
