Vintage Urei Universal Audio 1176LN Rev. B Upgraded to C Limiting Amplifier. Super Rare. SN 350! Just Serviced!

You are looking at this extremely rare Urei 1176, originally built as revision B (Blue Stripe) but upgraded to revision C in the 70s. The LN module and a black faceplate were installed by Universal Audio. This unit has serial number 350, which is an early model from late 60s. 1176s revisions A and B were considered noisy so Universal Audio created a special module to reduce noise floor. This module was incorporated in the revision C, which also acquired the LN (Low Noise) in the name. Soon after, on revision D, Urei redesigned the main circuit board to incorporate the LN circuit and also replaced the VU meter. Universal Audio offered options to upgrade revision A and B units. The upgrade consisted in adding the LN module found in revision C units. They also offered the option of swapping the faceplate to a black one, which was a closer match to the revision C units. Sadly I dont have the original blue stripe faceplate. If ever desired to retrofit this unit to stock rev B circuit, the modification can be easily be reversed. This particular unit is in excellent shape. Super clean and working great. A few scratches on the faceplate and some oxidation on the chassi. The unit was professionally serviced recently, receiving new capacitors, some resistors, and calibration. New pig tails with Mogami cabling and Neutrik gold connectors were installed. Everything works according to the original specs. Great class A sound. Chassi, knobs, and VU meter are very clean and in great shape. See the pictures for more details. These are hard to find available for sale, specially at this condition. The Urei 1176LN Rev. C, D, and E are considered the best revision of this classic compressor. They use a Class A amplifier, transformers in the input and output stages. It’s definitely the favorite among engineers and producers on vocal chains. All three revisions use the very same circuit. While C had the Low Noise circuit in a separate module, on D this module was incorporated to the main board. In E, a switch to change voltage operation between 115v/230v was added, remaining everything else exactly the same way as D and C. Let me know if you have any questions. I can ship worldwide.
