From the seller
I'm selling my vintage Studer 169 console in very good condition which I've owned for almost 7 years. I bought it off Reverb from a reputable dealer who had fully restored it (full recap, cleaning, etc). Everything was in perfect working order when I received it, and it's still sounding great as it's only received very light use. Some of the pots may exhibit some scratchiness, but that's typical of a mixer that's close to 50 years old.
I love these boards. They sound FANTASTIC with synths and drum machines sent via DI through the pre's, and the EQ points are phenomenal for beefing up TR-808 and TR-909 sounds. They are also great for tracking acoustic instruments, which was their original function (they were often used as location mixers for orchestras). A lot of amazing producers, mixers, and artists are using these consoles right now, including Marta Salogni, James Ford, Juan MacLean, and others.
This is probably the most classic version of 169 -- the 10x2 configuration with Mic Pre's/EQ's on all channels, plus two compressors built into the master section. I was intending to keep this for a home studio set-up, but that doesn't look like it will be materializing any time soon so it's time to let it go.
Cosmetically it's in very good condition overall, with new wooden sides. There is one XLR jack that is poking out a bit in the back (channel 2, which you can see in the photo), but it's still functional.
If you are local to Brooklyn and want to check it out at my studio, just let me know. I am selling it as is due the vintage nature of the item. Feel free to ask any questions...thanks.
