From the seller

1997 Solid State Logic SSL 4000 G+ 32-channel analog mixing console with Black EQs. This is a genuine late-production SSL 4000 G+ that has undergone an extensive restoration and is currently installed and operational in my professional studio in Calgary, Alberta. The console was originally a 40-position frame populated with 32 channels and 8 blanks. The frame was professionally shortened and the 32 channels centred around the centre section, resulting in a much more practical footprint while retaining the complete 32-channel G+ console. CONSOLE • 32 SSL input channels • Black EQs throughout • SSL dynamics on every channel • G/G+ centre section • Full VU meter bridge • Original SSL Studio Computer system • SSL computer is now booting and operational • Original computer power supply and disk system • Console power supplies • Complete electrolytic recap performed across the console, computer and power supplies • Many EQ/dynamics switches were replaced with ALPS switches prior to its period in storage CABLING / ACCESSORIES INCLUDED • 48 inputs + 48 outputs of DL-to-DB25 connectivity • Numerous additional DL breakout cables • SSL card extender for servicing • SSL talkback remote • Patchbay and associated cabling • Extensive collection of spare SSL parts • Spare ICs, electronic components and miscellaneous service parts • Additional console-specific spares accumulated with the desk The amount of cabling, service equipment and spare parts included with the console represents a substantial package on its own and makes this particularly attractive for a working studio intending to keep a vintage SSL in long-term service. COMPUTER / AUTOMATION The original SSL Studio Computer has now been brought back online and boots and operates. The computer produces its proper video output and communicates with the console system. The automation has not yet been comprehensively tested in an actual mix/automation session, so I am not representing every automation function as tested. However, the computer itself is no longer an unknown/non-running component and is operational. HISTORY / RESTORATION I purchased the console from its previous long-term owner in 2025. It had been professionally crated and stored for approximately 12 years. I subsequently carried out an extensive restoration, most significantly a complete electrolytic recap of the desk, SSL computer and power supplies. Following restoration, the console was installed and has been used for professional recording and mixing. The desk has a long Calgary studio history and was previously installed at Night Deposit Studios. The original computer still contains Night Deposit Studios information and session data, providing an interesting surviving piece of the console’s history. The console was reportedly used during sessions involving artists including Elton John and Keith Urban. This is reported provenance rather than formally authenticated artist documentation. CONDITION The analog console is operational and currently installed. It can be demonstrated to a serious buyer. The original SSL computer is now operational as described above, although the automation system has not yet undergone comprehensive real-world testing. There are normal cosmetic signs of use consistent with a professional large-format console of this age. This is a vintage working studio console, not a cosmetically restored museum piece. The meter-bridge digital display has a known fault and is currently non-functional. This does not prevent normal analog operation of the console. This is not an unknown SSL that has simply been pulled from storage. Considerable restoration work has already been completed, the desk has subsequently been used professionally, and the original computer system is now running as well. Located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Inspection and demonstration are available by appointment. Due to the size and weight of the console, professional freight will need to be arranged. I can assist with dismantling and preparation for transport. Serious inquiries only.
