From the seller

I am now listing the Capricorn as a separate auction from the Studer D827 because I need it gone! The Studer is listed here (https://reverb.com/item/102932058-studer-d827-mid-90-s?publish_confirmation=true) for anyone that might only be interested in it. Price: 4,500 I was the EIC (Engineer-In-Charge) of TNN (The Nashville Network) / MTVN (MTV Nashville remote audio-truck for about 10 years. We did hundreds of high-level shows/recordings with this legendary console. Many, many, musical shows were recorded, mixed, and remixed with this large format music console owned first by TNN (The Nashville Network), and then acquired by MTVN (MTV Nashville). Shows included the following and many, many others: The CMA Awards (many years), The CMT Awards (many years), MTV Awards (several years), VH-1 Rock Honors (I believe all of them), MTV Latino Awards (several of them), MTV Unplugged - Alejandro Sanz (Multiple Grammy award winner), MTV Unplugged - La Ley (Grammy award winner), Eric Clapton Crossroads (TEC award winner), Concert for NYC (TEC award winner), Woodstock ’99, Rockfest (multiple), Farm aid (multiple) and many more. This console was designed with musicality in mind always sounds great! We are providing a current video showing audio metering and providing audio to hear playback from the MADI connected Studer D-827 ½ inch; 48 track digital tape machine also listed for sale separately as mentioned above. (https://reverb.com/item/102932058-studer-d827-mid-90-s?publish_confirmation=true) There is a known issue with the AFU section on the Capricorn surface (the VDU displays are not illuminated) but I don’t live where it is located and the console needs to be removed. I’m sure it can be repaired with the help of a Capricorn tech, but I can’t spend any more time on it so it’s to your advantage if you’re interested. There are so many spares with this console it’s crazy! (2 full sets supplied from Neve that were included in its original purchase) If you have any interest in this console, DSP rack, external racks, etc., please email your contact info to me and I will give you a call. Thanks! Greg One of the most iconic large-format and musical sounding digital consoles ever designed. Manufactured between 1993 (Abby Road purchased the 1st one) and 2001. 105 units were built in total. Each strip section works like an analog desk with 24 strips per section (12 levels deep). (banks) This made it an incredibly powerful console. Typical configurations (exact specs varied by build). 32 mic preamps 10-12 Con cards (16 signal paths per card 3-5 EQ cards (96-160 EQs/filters 2-3 DRC cards (64-96 compressors/limiters MADI I/O cards Analog I/O racks AES I/O racks The current configuration up for sale is as follows: 2 - 24 fader strip assemblies as shown. Currently, only one is in use since the console has 12 instant banks which allow access to 288 total faders (not including the single fader in the AFU master section. (This allows the entire unused 2nd 24 fader assembly to be available for possible future parts. (24 moving faders,1 strip node, 24 VDU meters, power supplies, etc.) 2 mic racks (32 channels of amazing mic preamps) 1 Analog I/O rack (32 channels) 1 AES digital rack (2 unit is one rack) providing 96 channels of AES I/O 1 monitor facility rack 1 wyse functioning terminal (with new battery installed) with keyboard A second analog I/O rack (fully fitted with DA and ADs) currently not connected 1 fully functioning DSP rack including: 1 functioning Storage node installed (several spares) 2 functioning DRC (dynamic range cards installed (several spares) 3 functioning Madi (copper & Fiber) I/O cards installed (several spares) 1 functioning Tape node (1 or 2 spares) 2 functioning Fil/EQ cards (several spares) 6 functioning CON cards (multiple spares Pictures are included showing the wyse thermal status of all these cards (and nodes in the surface as well) and the issue with the console node/AFU display...This console has redundant power supplies installed throughout (for live TV BU) but only one has been used in the studio environment so there are many, many spare power supplies. Studer D-827 https://reverb.com/item/102932058-studer-d827-mid-90-s?publish_confirmation=true Price: $4,500 This is an iconic, legendary sounding 48 track tape machine, that is in excellent condition. ever designed. It always lived on the TNN/MTV audio-truck and was only moved a couple of times until It’s current studio location. It comes with a considerable number of spare parts and user manuals. I am also including at least a dozen reels (maybe a few more) of Quantegy and 3m tape. It is a ½ inch; digital tape format with 16-bit 48K resolution (comes with the optional 24 bit resolution card that limits recording track count to 24. This coupled with the 24 bit (32 bit internal floating) Neve Capricorn sounded amazing. If you would like to hear a sample of this- check this link out: Rich Severson Jumpin’…
