Excellent Condition with Shockmount. Tested and Working Great!
The CAD Equitek E200 (originally manufactured by Conneaut Audio Devices) is a vintage, multi-pattern side-address electret condenser microphone introduced in the 1990s. Known for its rugged, heavy build quality and distinct rectangular-to-cylindrical aesthetic, it became a staple in home and professional studios for its uncolored, highly transparent sound profile.
One of the most notable design traits of the original Equitek series (including the E100 and E200) is its power system. The microphone operates on standard 48V phantom power, but it routes that power to constantly trickle-charge two internal 9V rechargeable NiCd batteries. These batteries serve as high-current reservoirs, allowing the microphone to deliver clean, uncompromised transient responses and handle massive acoustic dynamics without starving the internal circuitry.
The E200 incorporates high-speed OpAmps and an active servo headamp design. By eliminating interstage capacitors, CAD successfully minimized the phase anomalies, colorization, and bandwidth limitations typical of traditional capacitor configurations. This architectural choice extends the microphone's low-end response, making it exceptionally flat and accurate.
