From the seller
Here's a 1972 Fender Telecaster Bass, with original tuners, neck, body, and original Fender humbucker pickups.
There are small and large dings and dongs here, no grooves or notches in the original fret ends… original – but they are played flat…
Cool player bass with plenty of patina and mojo!
Additionally equipped with a Fender PJ pickup configuration and small toggle switches, modified bridge, new string jacks on the body...
The 1972 Fender Telecaster Bass represents the first full production year of the second generation (Version 2) of this model, which was built from late 1971 to 1979. The most significant change for this year was the switch from the original single-coil pickup to a solid humbucker located directly at the neck end!
Shape: Double Cutaway "Slab Body" (traditional, angular body without ergonomic contours).
• Neck Construction: One-piece maple neck, bolt-on.
• Neck Attachment: 3-bolt neck plate with integrated micro-tilt system for precise neck angle adjustment.
• Neck Profile: Comfortable, medium-weight "C" to slight "U" profile (often described as a half-round, meaty neck).
• Truss Rod: Adjustable via the distinctive "bullet" nut on the headstock.
• Scale Length: 34 inches (long scale / 864 mm).
• Nut Width: 1 ⅝ inches (approx. 41.3 mm).
• Fret Radius: 7.25 inches (classic vintage radius).
• Frets: 20 frets (vintage medium).
• Inlays: Black dots.
• Pickups: One original Fender Wide Range Bass humbucker (designed by Seth Lover) in the neck position. This pickup is characterized by extremely high output (DC resistance often around 23–24 kOhms) and a massive, deep, and bass-heavy sound.
Controls: Passive electronics with one master volume and one master tone (classic knurled chrome knobs).
Pickguard: Large, newly designed, one-piece pickguard (usually 3-ply white/black/white or black), which made the control plate of the first version unnecessary.
Tuners: Open-gear vintage Fender tuners with heart-shaped or cloverleaf wings... slightly bent ;-)
Weight: 4.4 kg
The bass comes in a Warwick gig bag!
