From the seller

BBC-Marconi Type AXBT Ribbon Microphone – Rare Vintage Example – Lansdowne CTS Studios I’m selling this BBC-Marconi Type AXBT ribbon microphone, which belonged to my late father and was part of his private collection. It came from Lansdowne CTS Studios, and was originally purchased from the BBC. It’s a rare piece of British broadcasting history, manufactured by Marconi’s Wireless Telegraph Co. Ltd. in London. The microphone retains its original identification plates, including the BBC-Marconi Type AXBT designation, BBC patent reference and the servicing instruction plate. It comes with its original wooden storage case, mounting assembly and yellow cable, as shown in the photographs. Condition and functionality I have personally tested the microphone using my Focusrite audio interface and can confirm that it works. It has not been professionally inspected by an audio engineer, and I don’t know when it was last serviced. The microphone shows some cosmetic wear consistent with its age. Please see the photographs for a closer look at its condition. I’m in no rush to sell it, so I’m looking for someone who appreciates the microphone for what it is and the history behind it. I’d rather it went to a collector who will value it than simply sell it for the sake of selling it. Please look through all the photographs carefully, as they show the microphone, its original identification plates, connections and wooden case. Asking price: €22,250. I’m happy to consider sensible offers from genuinely interested buyers. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, I’ll do my best to help. This is a genuine rare piece of UK recording history.
