From the seller
1967 Fender Precision Bass Olympic White Refin w/OSHC
Up for sale, an early CBS era Precision Bass dating to late 1967, with several parts from both 1966 and 1967, confirmed by a neck stamp reading 5 DEC 67, carrying serial 128XXX on its original neck plate.
Despite landing right at the CBS transition, it retained a number of key pre CBS L series appointments, including the original transition decal logo, a dark Brazilian rosewood veneer fretboard with pearl dot inlays, the original bridge and bridge cover, grey bobbin pickups, original thumb rest, string tree, bone nut, and its original black Tolex hardshell case. Lightweight at 8.0 lbs and perfectly balanced, this is a real players' '60s P at an honest, affordable price.
Everything is original and period correct (including the neck with its original finish, the pickups, bridge, bridge cover, pots, knobs, thumb rest, nut, output jack, string tree, and the black Tolex hardshell case), with the exception of the obvious body refinish, the pickguard, which is a genuine American Vintage Fender replacement, the tuners, Gotoh Res-O-Lite reverse tuners in aged nickel (there's evidence this might've have factory Lolipop tuners), and a recent refret.
There are zero extra routes or modifications anywhere on the instrument.
The body was professionally refinished in nitro Olympic White, with no relic work done, so it's ready for you to age or relic as you like, and paired with the white pickguard it makes for a genuinely stunning combination. The neck is exceptional, all original finish, with the checking and modest patina you'd expect from honest age rather than anything artificial, a 1.67 inch nut width, 7.25 inch radius, 0.87 inch thickness at the 1st fret and 0.97 inch at the 12th, a profile that plays as good as it looks. Pots and pickups are both dated '66, the truss rod works flawlessly in both directions, and the frets, a recent refret, play great all the way up the neck. Note that the pickup covers are not currently installed, only the bridge pickup cover is included int he case.
It comes with its original black Tolex hardshell case with Fender logo, in very good condition, with two of the three latches working and the case still fully functional and closing securely. This is a genuine opportunity to own a mostly original mid '60s P Bass at a reasonable price. Ships to the Continental US and select international destinations.
